Food for the Soul ~ 1 John 4:7-10

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. " 1John 4:7-10
I've been pondering this idea of God's love this week.  And, how is it that I fall so short each day of demonstrating His love to others? Do I really go the extra mile in serving others, particularly my family? Why is it that I listen to the lies and accusations of the enemy in moments of frustration when the children are clearly not "loving" each other? This verse is a great comfort and a reminder to me that I can do nothing to deserve His love, it is by His grace we are saved. His love reserves never run dry. How can I relate this back to my relationships?  First, I need to ask my Heavenly Father for more love to give, more energy to serve and grace to persevere. I need to keep going the extra mile, giving more of myself to those around me and teach my children to do the same.  For in the giving, I demonstrate sacrificial love and I receive far more than I could ever ask for...His cup of overflowing blessings. Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday and a blessed week!
