Family Road Trip to AZ

Hi Friends!
I've missed you! You may have noticed that the posts were a bit sporadic last week.  Where were we?
We took a family road trip out to Arizona to celebrate my father-in-law's 80th birthday.  We had a wonderful dinner with the extended family at Maggiano's.
The food was amazing....apparently too amazing for me to remember to photograph. It was so fun seeing my husband's brothers and their families and celebrating a milestone birthday.
The next day we spent doing a little shopping and thrifting at Second Look in Phoenix. I found this adorable pewter pitcher and white platter.

Later that day I got to see my bestie and spend a little time with her too.
We couldn't visit AZ without stopping at our favorite restaurant, Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert. They have the best barbecue sauce and homemade root beer. We spent most of our time, however, up in the White Mountains where my FIL lives and where my brother and sister-in-law have a cabin.
The weather was glorious and signs of fall were everywhere. My FIL's neighborhood backs up to the forest (it's still recovering from the Rodeo-Chediski fire in 2002).

There were wild horses that came right up to the bordering fence. Hubby took the kids out into the forest on a four-wheeler and they spent lots of time on their rollerblades and ripstick.
The weather was just too gorgeous not to be outside in it. My sweet girl and I watched the horses from a porch swing on my FIL's back patio.
The last couple of days of our trip we spent in Pinetop at my SIL's cabin. Two words...absolutely gorgeous! Their cabin is beautiful and the surroundings are truly inspiring.

Donna(SIL) and I took long walks around a lake near their cabin on both of the mornings taking in the scenery and fresh air.  When we returned from the walks, the boys had started making breakfast.
Everyone pitched in to make a big meal complete with eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. We were so blessed by their sweet hospitality. It was like being at a bed and breakfast, but making memories with family instead of strangers.
One day, we went into town to do some shopping. We found lots of fun stores with beautiful things. My SIL scored a gorgeous set of pilgrims for her dining table. I'll have to share more on our thrifting adventures in a later post. Overall, it was a great week.  I missed spending time with you all, but I was happy to take the break to catch up with family and soak up a little bit of AZ sunshine. Now...to catch up on all that laundry...yikes!

I'm linking up at some of these great parties and
