Christmas Gift Canister

We've officially begun the Christmas baking around here.  I just love giving baked goods and yummy treats away as gifts this time of year, but I don't always know how to package the goodies. I try to keep various empty containers throughout the year for occasions such as this.  This Christmas Gift Canister turned out to be the perfect thing to package my Sugar 'n' Spice Popcorn I shared with you yesterday. I just put it in a gallon zip lock bag first.

Here's what you need: empty oatmeal canister, Christmas wrapping paper, scissors, ruler and double-sided tape or a hot glue gun.
Start by removing the oatmeal wrapping and cutting your wrapping paper to 16 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches for a standard-sized canister.
Place a strip of double-sided tape on a short end of the paper and set in place on the canister, pressing to adhere to the side. Put several strips of tape on the wrapping paper so it will stick to the canister. Finish with a strip on the other end. Press firmly to adhere. Fill with your favorite goodies and finish off with a bow.

So, what goodies would you fill your canister with?  Some ideas would be flavored popcorn, Muddy Buddies, cookies, coffee and flavored syrups, art supplies, or patterned duct tape. It's just a fun break from the traditional cookie tins or gift bags.
I'm linking up at some of these great parties and

  1. That is such a cute idea, Nici! I bake a lot of sweet breads and bake them in my Pampered Chef mini baker, which makes 4 little loaves that are just the perfect size to fit in one of those cute cello bags that all the stores (including Walmart) have for cheap and just tie it with a ribbon & add a homemade tag. I've used Pringles cans, too. Decorate them the way you did the Oatmeal canister, & stack a batch of cookies. We don't eat Pringles anymore, so I'll have to move!

  2. That's cute...and I love the fun wrapping paper you chose! Great idea! xo

  3. Great idea, this makes a really fun package.
