Food for the Soul- Philippians 4:8

The kids and I have been working on memorizing scripture as part of our daily routine in school. I will say that they are much better at it than I am. It truly amazes me how many verses they are able to recite back to me when given the first couple of words. This is one of the verses we went over and over again this week. Then, we listed as many things as we could think of for each adjective listed. If we truly practiced the truths in this verse, how much more pleasant our lives would all be! I challenge you this week, sweet friends. When life gets crazy or your mind takes you on a downward spiral , I pray you will remember these instructions from God's word and feel His peace that passes all understanding. Have a wonderful Sunday! Blessings to you and yours!

  1. Thank you for sharing your ideas about your kids with me--To memorize scriptures. The scriptures will stay with them all their lives and may come to them in times of trial or indecision. I too memorized scriptures when I was young and many times --just hearing the scripture from someone else brings a smile from me and a memory of how I memorized that scripture. Also I have remembered scriptures when I wondered if the Lord truly knew who I am and those scriptures come to mind and reassure me. Here is a favorite:Doctrine and Covenants 50: 40-42
    40 Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.

    41 Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me;

    42 And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost.

    Have a great week Nici,

  2. I love that verse Nici. And what a great idea to memorize verses with your kids. We have been a little lazy on that front. Our kids went to a Christian school when they were younger, and scripture memorization was part of the curriculum. It's amazing how much they still remember from those earlier school years, but you can never have too many verses in your heart. This one in particular is a good one to arm yourself with. Have a great Sunday!
