Food for the Soul ~ James 4:8

What an emotional week it's been! I'll be honest, when I see things happening like this week's Boston bombings and the devastation in West, Texas, my heart is heavy and burdened . Not only do I come face to face with how volatile the world is, but also my own fears and insecurities. This is exactly when I turn to the One who casts out all fear.
James 4:8 says, "Come near to God and He will come near to you." God's Word, the Bible, is full of His promises to comfort us and guide us, especially through trials such as those endured this week. Perhaps you're going through a difficult time waiting for news of a diagnosis or struggling in your marriage or feeling lonely. In all these times, the Lord longs for you to draw close to Him. It is His desire to draw you close "as a hen gathers her chicks under her wing". (Matt. 23:37)
My prayer for you this week is that in whatever trial you find yourself going through and whatever fears threaten to steal your joy, you will draw near to God and find comfort and peace under the shadow of His wings. For you, Boston and West, may the Lord heal your broken hearts and hold you close as you navigate the waters of sorrow and hope.
Blessings to you, sweet friends! Your visits mean so much to me.

  1. Great post Nici. It has been a sorrowful week. And sadly these catastrophic events are coming closer and closer to each other. Today I teach the women's class and the topic is about how to live with our trials. I will probably use your quote in James because that is the main idea of the lesson. I also found a great video that I will show my ladies. You can search in YouTube for this one: Be Not Troubled---Jesus Christ Will Return 5:21 mins. Thanks Nici --have a great week.

Thank you so much for stopping by to leave a comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to write your words of encouragement. Your sweet notes make my heart smile! Have a delightful day!
