Pineapple Slicer~ A Favorite Kitchen Gadget

How's your week going so far? We just said goodbye to my husband's family yesterday. We had a really nice visit with them. I'll share some of the highlights tomorrow, as I have quite a few pictures to go through. We actually didn't make it out to the Fort Worth Stockyards as planned, but were able to walk around one of the gems of Fort Worth. This is a must-see if you are ever in the area. I'll tell you what it is tomorrow. For today, I want to show you another one of my favorite kitchen gadgets...a pineapple slicer.
These gadgets are the neatest thing since sliced bread. You simply cut off the top of the pineapple, line up the cutter around the core and start apply pressure as you twist the cutter through the body of the pineapple.
Once you've reached the bottom, you pull the inside of the pineapple out.
Here's what it looks like...a tower of pineapple slices and a pineapple shell. For a tropical party, wouldn't it be neat to put a mason jar in the pineapple shell, fill it with water and then put a flower arrangement inside? Just a thought...
Remove the handle from the slicer and slide the pineapple slices off the tube which now has the core of the pineapple in it.
Slice down one side of the pineapple slice tower and you will have perfectly sliced pineapples in no time, every time. This is a gadget that I use all the time. We love to eat fresh pineapple by itself, in smoothies and on pizza. I picked up my slicer at ALDI a couple of years ago for around $5.00, but I know you can get them for about $10.00. I was so excited to find pineapples on sale for a dollar a piece at Kroger this weekend! They were the perfect topping for the homemade pizza I made for our company Sunday night. Do you have a gadget that seems like a frivolous thing, but is invaluable in the kitchen? I'd love to hear what it is!
I'm linking up at some of these great parties and

  1. I bought the same one at ALDI! I love it!!!

  2. I would be in heaven with one of these!! I've never seen them before, I have to start looking for one. I buy fresh pineapple all the time (only way to get it!!) and it takes forever to peel, slice & cut. We love eating it just like that, but will add it to ham dishes.
    Thanks for sharing...I'm going shopping!
    Debbie :)

  3. Love it! I need one of these and a mango sliver, but hubby isn't sold yet, lol!

  4. I have one from The Pampered Chef, but I don't use it much because we usually just buy sliced pineapple. However I love my garlic press from The Pampered Chef, I use it all the time!

  5. YES!! My father-in-law gave us one and I am in heaven!! They are SO great. Seriously. I don't think we've stopped eating pineapple since we got it.

  6. Cool gadget. Works like a charm. PS. Yummy pizza.

  7. My husband laughs at my apple slicer, but I use it ALL THE TIME! So much that I actually have two because they do different numbers of slices and one has a cubing attachment as well. I think a pineapple cutter may be my next kitchen gadget. We just got a juicer and pineapple juice is so delicious but I hate dealing with whole pineapples and the precut spears are pricey!

  8. How funny that you posted this! I was literally standing and staring at one in the grocery store the other day. Too bad I'm so behind on my visiting. If I had seen this earlier, I would have bought it without a second thought. You've sold me! I've only been to Aldi's a few times, but if I could get fresh pineapple there for only $1, it would be worth the trip across town. I usually pay between $3 and $4 for each. Yikes! Needless to say, it's not a fruit I buy very often. :( That and the fact that it seems to take forever to core and chop. I'll plan a trip to Aldi's in the near future and see if I can find some of those $1 pineapples and a pineapple slicer. Oh, and I LOVE your idea of putting a mason jar in there with fresh cut flowers!

  9. Oh man...I am bummed I missed that gadget at Aldi. I don't buy pineapple because they are a pain to cut!!

  10. Hmmm. I know what I want for my birthday now! Thanks for sharing it at Monday Funday!

  11. I am quite bad in this work, I do not remember I have ever cut the pineapple in a good way lol. I guess I should buy this kitchen gadget. looks good and handy too.

Thank you so much for stopping by to leave a comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to write your words of encouragement. Your sweet notes make my heart smile! Have a delightful day!
