Berry Sweet Skewers

Why is it that summer is here and we seem to be getting busier? I thought things were supposed to be more relaxed and carefree. This week, it seems like we are running here and there in between baseball games. Hardly any time to take a breath, much less get a post together to share with you. But, I've come up with a pretty easy snack that I think you and your family will like, Berry Sweet Skewers.
In the summertime, I love Strawberry Shortcake with a few blueberries sprinkled in for good measure. Berry Sweet Skewers are all those flavors on a stick. I alternated fruit and cubes of Angel Food Cake to make these fruity skewers.  I would serve this with some Cool Whip, fruit dip or even some yogurt.
I think these would be perfect for a July 4th celebration too. I've trimmed the stems from the strawberries to create a heart shape. I first saw this at Me and My DIY  when Debbie made heart-shaped strawberry skewers for Valentine's Day. I was smitten and knew I had to do some form of the same thing.
Putting colorful fruit on skewers makes it so much more fun to eat!  What creative ways do you have to get your family to eat more fruit?

  1. Hi Nici! You're so sweet. I was reading your post and I thought "hey! she made heart strawberries too!" and then I realized you mentioned my post. What a sweetheart. I love your skewers, they're the perfect treat for not only the 4th of July, but anytime. I may have to serve them after dinner tonight. It's the perfect weather for grilling outside, and these would be the perfect topper. Hope you're having a great week!

  2. Mmmmm...looks delicious. I recently had a fruit dip of powdered sugar, cream cheese and cool whip. Your skewers would be divine dipped in that!
