Candy Corn Striped Cupcakes

Need another quick Halloween idea for those class parties? Why make regular cupcakes, when you can make these adorable Candy Corn Striped Cupcakes? Mind you, I love baking desserts from scratch, but sometimes it is necessary to take some shortcuts... like using cake mixes and prepared frosting. That's exactly what I did with these cupcakes.

Simply use your favorite yellow cake recipe (any box mix will do), make up the batter as usual and place about 2 cups of the batter in a separate bowl. Color the smaller quantity of batter yellow and the larger amount orange.

After lining your cupcake pan with paper liners, pour about 1 Tbsp. of yellow batter in the bottom of each of the lined cups. (I only get about 21 cupcakes out of a boxed mix) Then, divide the orange batter evenly among all of the cups.

Bake as directed and frost with any white vanilla frosting. (Again, I used prepared, canned frosting. If you are feeling ambitious, feel free to make your own.)
Place a candy corn and orange-colored sprinkles on top. That's all, folks! An easy, fun fall treat that the kiddos will love! Happy Halloween!

  6. Cute, I recently purchased some "Batter Babies" that are thin plastic dividers that you place in the cupcake liner then put batter of two different colors on each side then pull out the divider and bake. Haven't used them yet plan on doing strawberry, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Your way is cheaper then what these cost. Nice post Andi thewednesdaybaker
