Food for the Soul ~ Isaiah 11:1,2

Hello, dear friends. Well, today is the first day of Advent, a time when Christians celebrate the "coming" of the Lord or the anticipation of Christmas, Christ's birthday. For the last couple of years, my family has gone through Ann Voskamp's (A Holy Experience) Jesse Tree Journey. Now, I believe she has re-done it into a beautiful book called The Greatest Gift. If you aren't familiar with the Jesse tree, it is basically a symbol of the Christian heritage, reaching back to the Old Testament from Creation through the birth of Christ. Each day, we read scripture and put a symbolic ornament on the dedicated tree, drawing us into the history of our faith and gaining a bigger picture of why Christ came to be born. We have found this to be a great way to focus our family's hearts on the reason we celebrate Christmas...Jesus.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead as we dive into my favorite time of the year! May your hearts be filled with joy and peace!
