Food for the Soul ~ John 10:11

Well, here we are just a couple of days before Christmas. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, the parties and the gifts is the ultimate gift...Jesus. In the Bible, He is called by many names...Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Lamb of God and the Good Shepherd to name a few.

It is just amazing to me that the Creator of the universe humbled Himself to be born as a helpless baby in manger, lived a perfect sinless life and then gave His very life so that we could have a relationship with Him and spend eternity with Him. (John 1:1-3)

Because of the Father's great love for us, Jesus is both the embodiment of the Passover lamb (I Cor. 5:7) from the Old Testament days (the perfect lamb sacrificed so that we may live) and the Good Shepherd, who has given his life for us, protecting our very souls.

This gift of life He offers to us is just that...a gift(Romans 6:23). It's nothing we have earned or can buy for ourselves. He offers the gift of salvation to all who would believe.  In order for the gift to be ours, we must receive it.

My prayer for you this week, sweet friends, is that you have received the Gift and unwrapped the mysteries of the Father's great love for you. If you haven't yet accepted the gift of Jesus, may this Christmas be the one where you receive the Gift that won't need to be exchanged or returned, the Gift that truly keeps on giving. Merry Christmas!

  1. Hi Nici,
Thanks for this, it is so true and so exciting, and so often we get so wrapped up in all the trimmings that we forget what we actually are celebrating.
I wish you and your family a very happy and blessed Christmas.
    Love and best wishes.
