Thanks to "Icemaggedon', I've been stranded at home for the weekend. With all that time at home instead of fighting the crowds, my mind has drifted to the beauty of the season and the whys of Christmas. Why did Jesus humble himself to be born as a seemingly helpless baby in a human world only to die a criminal's death on a cross? The story of Christmas is a love story...not just the love between Mary and Joseph, a betrothed couple who bring a child into the cold, crowded world...too crowded for them to have a place to stay overnight. Christmas is the story of our Heavenly Father's great love for us... His redeeming love. You see, Jesus, was born to die for us...to pay our ransom. What a gift! As we prepare our homes for the celebration of Christmas, I pray that we will also prepare our hearts by making room for Him. Turn down noise of the hustling and bustling, the "Santa Baby" songs and cravings for more stuff, and listen in solemn stillness.
