2014 Word of the Year ~ THRIVE

I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions. There is just too much pressure associated with them and they usually fall flat right about mid-January. Though I want to get healthier this year, I've already started it off with the Simply Decadent Orange Rolls...not exactly health food. Rather than beat myself up about those would-be resolutions, I am going to try using my 2014 Word of the Year ~ THRIVE, to guide my decisions and goals to a better year.

Thrive (verb) 1. To grow strongly and vigorously
                      2. To do well; prosper

I've chosen several areas in which I feel I need to see growth this year. Starting with my relationship with Christ to my marriage and family. I would love to be a better friend this year and practice hospitality. Improving in my home management would help as well. This would include housekeeping, clutter-busting, overall sense of peace in the home. I would like to practice hospitality. I love having people over, but I struggle with it because of my poor home management. I want to take better care of my body and feed my soul on the Word of God. Our fall semester of homeschooling was an improvement over past semesters, but I want to see my kiddos learn even more this spring, stretching themselves.

Finally, I would love to see this little blog grow. This first full year of blogging has been so fun, and I have learned a lot. I sincerely love working in the kitchen and sharing family favorites with you. I also enjoy the creative process of crafting and showing you how to make do with what you have. I hope to do more DIY projects around the house in 2014...ones that will help me achieve the goal of thriving in home management. I want Posed Perfection to be a place you come to for inspiration and encouragement.

I am so grateful for you coming by here for visits. Thank you for all the kind words you've left me over the last year. They mean so much to me.  So, tell me...do you have a WORD for 2014 or do you still make resolutions? Either way, I 'd love to hear what they are and be able to encourage you in them.

I'm linking up at some of these great parties and

  1. Hi Nici,
Thanks for this incredibly inspiring article, it has made me want to jump up and do a thousand things at once, not that one can, but you have given me the courage to carry on and take whatever the year throws at me. I know it is goi ng to be a bad start as my Father is dying and I am in South Africa, and he is in England, but you have reminded me that God never gives us a cross that we cannot bear, and so on with the new year.
    Thank you.
I think that my word would have to be tidy as I am very disorganized and untidy, and I need to improve on this.
I hope that you have a fantastic day and weekend.
    Love and best wishes.

  2. Nici, my word is Balance. I need to find balance in my life - more time with God, taking care of myself, and taking care of the maintenance on my house. Thanks for sharing your word.

  3. These are fabulous goals with a central theme!!! I love the visual reminder you created, too!!! Wishing you and your the best in 2014!!! XO, Aimee

  4. I love this! I don't make resolutions anymore...just set myself up for failure with those. I haven't really decided on a word for this year. Several come to mind...love, peace, happiness, etc. Last year was so horrible with losing Abby and almost my brother. I had challenges at the old apt community and was in the process of packing & moving when things happened. I want this year to be a LOT better! I feel positive about it and doing my best to ensure it happens. I also agree with drawing closer to Christ...that is a definite for me.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year and lots of blessings!

  5. Thrive! What a great word. I use to break my goals down into different groups - similar to yours above - wife, daughter, sister, friend, employer, body, soul, etc., trying to cover all my bases. Always losing weight was on my list - I never achieved this one and then I beat myself up - so I am not even putting it on the list or worrying about it - at least not in the month of January - it is too much stress. I just choose my word. I must say it is very difficult to choose one word. LOL! I hope you have a thriving 2014!

  6. Nici, no word chosen yet. Best of luck with your "thriving" and some of the goals you have set for the new year. Happy new year.

  7. I hope that you do thrive and continue to grow. What a great word to choose for the word of the year.
    Happy New Year 2014

  8. Thanks so much for sharing them with Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party.
    Have a great week.
