Are you feeling the Christmas crunch yet? Well, to take your mind off of all you still need to accomplish, I have a quick little craft for you today. I had several readers ask about these Cozy Felt Pine Cones when I posted my Holiday Home Tour and it just didn't seem right to wait until after Christmas to share how to make them.
If you're feeling ambitious, you could whip up a few of these as ornaments or toppers for Christmas gifts. Or, perhaps you'll want to add some pine cones to your winter decor over the holiday break. Either way, don't be surprised if you can't stop making these cuties.
I first saw them in the Mollie-Makes Magazine I got for Christmas last year. I was absolutely smitten from seeing them on the cover and knew I'd be making some. It just took me a year to get around to it. Are those colors not gorgeous? So, the talented lady who made them also happens to be a blogger. She has the detailed tutorial for them posted on her blog.
If you want to make some of these Cozy Felt Pine Cones for yourself, head over and visit Amber at Salt Tree. Her instructions are so easy to follow and there was no point in repeating what she had already done. The basic supplies you'll need are sheets of craft felt (9x12), sharp scissors, hot glue gun, glue sticks and foam eggs (or you can repurpose plastic Easter eggs like I did).
I made up several of them to use on My Tranquil Christmas Mantel and my entryway table. I even made up some fun fuchsia ones. As much as I loved the bright colored pine cones, I opted for the more natural colored ones in the decor. I'm thinking I may have to make a garland of felt pine cones for next year. I have a good start already!
Don't forget that we're starting the Creative Ways Link Party early this week! We're starting at 8pm central tonight instead of Wednesday! Come back and share your latest creations!
