Hi Friends! I pray you've had a good week and are looking forward with hope and joy to the weeks coming up. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is my favorite time of year. I love making all the preparations in the house...putting up garlands and greenery, shiny ornaments and nativity sets. I love wrapping gifts and baking up goodies that fill the house with sweet aromas as we approach Christmas.
While all these activities bring me joy, they mean absolutely nothing if my heart is not prepared to receive the Gift of Grace. The superficiality of the hustle and bustle of shopping and comparing my decorations to those of my blog friends can find its way into my heart and squelch joy if I'm not reminding myself daily of the Gift of Jesus and the Salvation that comes through Him alone. I love the word pictures that Isaiah gave us when said to "make straight paths for him". We need to be intentional about clearing away everything that takes our focus off of Him. Such a great reminder!
Need some more passages to help you reflect on the greatest Gift ever given? Here are some week 2 Advent verses to read this week: Psalm 25:1-10 and/or Psalm 27:1-7,18-19 and/or Micah 5:2 and/or Matthew 2:1-12
