Nutty Brown Sugar Brownies

Okay, even though I'm doing the Whole30 and won't be indulging in traditional Valentine's Day sweets this year, I didn't think you'd need to suffer along with me ;-) I made a batch of these Nutty Brown Sugar Brownies to take to my daughter's piano recital a couple of weeks ago, and they were a big hit... with everyone else... my kiddos prefer them without the nuts. But, hey, that's their problem, right? They "suffered" through the nuttiness and came out just fine. I thought you might like a delicious, old-fashioned recipe to whip up some treats for your favorite peeps!

These Nutty Brown Sugar Brownies are fudgy and delicious with just the right balance of sweet and salty... the perfect treat for dessert and potlucks!

This is just a ramped up version of the Watkins Brownies I have posted before. I happen to love the addition of the nuts... and I hope you will too.

Nutty Brown Sugar Brownies ~ A delicious old, fashioned fudgy treat!

Nutty Brown Sugar Brownies

2 cups brown sugar (not packed)
2 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
2 Tbsp. oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour (not level)
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix ingredients together and spread with a knife in 9x13 pan that's been buttered and floured (or sprayed with baking spray). Bake for 20 minutes.  Allow to cool for a few minutes, then cut into small squares and roll in powdered sugar.

These brownies would be the perfect treat to bake up for your child's favorite teacher, your team at work, or even your hubby to celebrate the holiday of love (or any other day, for that matter)! Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day!
