Happy Sunday to you! I just got back from a quick trip to visit my folks. It's always nice to see them, and check on how they are getting along. As busy as life gets, it's so important to not merely look out for our own interests. I'm reminded of the verse in Philippians where it says to look into the interests of others too.
All too often, I get so wrapped up in my own life and the interests of my family (i.e. baseball, piano, soccer, youth group, etc.) that I forget to look up and check on others in my life. I was so thankful things worked out for us to take a couple of days to visit my parents. It would have been easy to forgo the 5 hour drive there to fritter away the last days of Spring Break here at the house. But, my kids would have missed out on precious time with their grandparents and I would have missed having laughs and long talks with my mom and dad.
I know these times are special, even when we don't DO anything exciting or adventurous. Sometimes just taking time to BE with loved ones fills our love tanks and blesses them as well. I know I have others in my life that I need to call or even send a little note just to let them know I'm thinking about them. It's a constant battle to take my eyes off of myself and look to see how I can put a smile on someone else's face.
How about you? Anyone you need to reach out to this week? I encourage you to make that call, send a text that says "Hi, how are you?", or stop by with a plate of brownies. You will surely show someone how special they are, and you in return will be blessed.
Have a wonderful week!
