A Simple Fall Mantel

We are already to the end of October and I just realized that I never shared my Simple Fall Mantel with you. I'm sure you've been waiting on pins and needles for it, haven't you? I kid, I kid... Seriously though, have you see all the beautiful fall decorations out there? From blingy and bright to soft neutrals, the fall decor this year is simply gorgeous. I can only imagine what's in store for us this winter!

When my daughter asked me if we could pull out the Fall Box and start decorating in early August, I was a bit hesitant. After a couple of days of her asking, I finally gave in. If you don't know this already about my daughter, she loves to celebrate life. Every season, every holiday, almost every day is a reason to decorate. I do love that about her, even if it is somewhat overwhelming for me sometimes. This time, however, my mom was in town and willing to help out with the placing of fall decor. My only job was to do the mantel.

I took on this job because I had just recently refinished a couple of large wooden decorative pieces that I wanted to incorporate in the mantel decor. In fact, they would be the backdrop for the whole mantel setup.  I'll share about them in another post.

FALL block letters and wreath of wooden leaves are the stars of this Simple Fall Mantel.

I placed the turquoise FALL letters off center to the left of the wooden plaques, along with my flourishing Zig Zag plant in the copper pot.

On the right side, my sweet resin squirrel sits with gathered nuts along with a couple of simple dark bronze candlestick holders with turquoise candles. (I'm all about balancing the colors.) My swirly clock makes an appearance on the side also.

After placing all those items on the mantel, it still needed something in the middle. I love the interest and texture of the refinished pieces, but a little bit of color was in order. Digging a little deeper in the Fall Box, I found this beautiful wooden leaves wreath. I think it is my favorite fall decoration... such care went into making it. For just a little more color, the fall leaves swag was hung from the under side of the mantel. This is the same one I added book page leaves to for my Orange and Turquoise Fall Mantel.

Even though I was hesitant to get the ball rolling on fall decor way back in August, it has allowed me the joy of soaking in all the beauty of the season (indoors) until the trees begin making their change from the cool greens to warm and rich oranges and reds. It can't happen soon enough for me ;-)
