Food for the Soul ~ Psalm 96:6

Happy Sunday! Hope you've had a great week! I have been thoroughly enjoying the bible study I've been doing in Nehemiah with IFEquip. Each day, I feel like I'm getting a bigger view of God's plan for our lives. What I love is that this plan involves people in community with one another... weeping and rejoicing with one another, praying with one another, helping each other, and encouraging each other as we "do life" together each day, side by side rebuilding walls torn down by the enemy. I pray that you have this kind of community in your life and that you are seeing the splendor and majesty of the Lord, day by day.

Wishing you a week full of sweet community and eyes to see the beauty of the Lord all around you!

Food for the Soul ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7

Hello, dear friends! Hope you have had a wonderful weekend so far. On Instagram this week, I shared that I am participating in a Bible study through Nehemiah with the IF Equip movement (see Ifequip.com if you are interested in joining it too). It has been such an eye opening and convicting study. I realize that my faith is way to small. As soon as adversity strikes, I tend to feel defeated and want to just give in. I'm learning about how Nehemiah lived out his great faith, praying and overseeing the rebuilding of the Jerusalem wall. Nehemiah just knew that what he was doing glorified God and that He would grant success to His people. Even though he saw the huge amount of work to be done and all the opposition from the naysayers, he remained steadfast in prayer and in encouraging his fellow workers. Even when arrows were flying in the midst of rebuilding the gates, still He trusted that his faithful God would fight for His people.

Nehemiah, like Paul, was a man who lived "by faith, not by sight." I want to be that kind of person too. Praying for you this week... may you walk by faith and not by sight!

Creative Ways Link Party #67 and Features

Hi Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by to join this little ol' Creative Ways Link Party! I'm thrilled you are spending part of you week with us! We made it back home from Lubbock safe and sound. Although, since I was driving, we did encounter road construction, thunderstorms and an 18 wheeler that had been blown over by the wind. The only thing missing was fog... these things happen EVERY time I drive on road trips with my family. Thankfully, we made it home in one piece... and we had a good laugh. Are you ready to get on with this shindig?

Here are some of the awesome posts from last week's party:

Little Brags showed us her Cozy Outdoor Spaces. This would be such a nice place to do morning devotions.

I'm all about having some quick options for breakfast... especially on those tournament weekends! These On-the-Go Mini Breakfast Casseroles by Spoons of Grace would fit the bill perfectly.

Cookies for breakfast? Yes, please! Domesblissity brought these yummy Weetbix Breakfast Cookies to the party... I can't wait to try them.

I am positively enchanted by this Hot Glue Canvas Art by The Crazy Craft Lady. I don't know if it's the technique, the color combo, or me dreaming about being "somewhere beyond the sea", but I love it!

Mmmm... Bacon makes everything better. Table for Seven shared this delicious Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon. I could go for some right now!

Last, but certainly not least, My Life Cookbook shared this delectable Low Carb Coconut Berry Ice Cream with only 3 ingredients. I'll be trying this one soon!

      Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet

I have a confession to make... I've been keeping something from you all summer long. I don't know why, but I've done it.

Berries and buttermilk make the perfect summertime combination in this Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

I've been keeping this creamy and delicious Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet under wraps since the beginning of the summer. The first time I made it I didn't take pictures because, well, you never know how these things are going to turn out. The second time I made it, I took pictures. Then life got in the way and I never got said pictures edited or put into a post. We just made it again a couple of weeks ago and I swore (to myself) I would share it with you.  Yet, here we are... I still haven't shared it. So, today, as you may already be getting into your back-to-school groove, I'm expounding on the virtues of this delectable, tart and creamy Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet. It just might be the perfect "mom treat" while you wait for your sweeties to come bounding through the door announcing a big project that is due tomorrow. ;-)

Berries and buttermilk make the perfect summertime combination in this Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

By the way, did you know that it is pronounced sher-bet... not sherbert. There is only one "r". I have been saying it wrong for all these years... not spelling it wrong, as I have not had occasion to spell it until today. (Thank goodness. How embarrassing would that be?)

Raspberries, buttermilk, sugar and vanilla are all you need for this delicious Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

The ingredients couldn't be simpler: fresh raspberries, sugar, vanilla and buttermilk.

Raspberries, buttermilk, sugar and vanilla are all you need for this delicious Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

Start by rinsing your raspberries and draining them. Then place in a blender and process until pureed.

Straining the raspberry puree ensures no seeds or pulp in the Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet.

Press into a fine mesh strainer placed over a large bowl. Discard any solids.

      Stir in sugar.

Then pour in buttermilk and vanilla; stir until well combined.

Pour mixture into frozen bowl of 4-quart ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.

By the way, my sweet husband gave this KitchenAid Ice Cream Bowl attachment to me for our anniversary this year... such a romantic ;-) We have loved using it... especially for this sherbet!

Raspberries, buttermilk, sugar and vanilla are all you need for this delicious Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

Pour into a container with an airtight lid and freeze until desired consistency.

Berries and buttermilk make the perfect summertime combination in this Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

      Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet
      (makes about 4 cups)

2 cups fresh raspberries, rinsed and drained (or a 14 oz. package of thawed frozen raspberries)
      1 cup sugar
      2 cups buttermilk
      1 tsp. vanilla extract

After washing and draining raspberries, place in blender and process until smooth. Place fine mesh strainer over large bowl and pour the raspberry puree through the strainer. Discard the solids. Add sugar, buttermilk and vanilla; stir to combine completely. Pour raspberry mixture into container of ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the sherbet into a container with an airtight lid to freeze until desired consistency and for storage.

Berries and buttermilk make the perfect summertime combination in this Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet!

Now, I know what you must be thinking, because I thought the same thing... Buttermilk in sherbet? Sounds like a strange combination, doesn't it? Well, let me assure you, the buttermilk lends a certain tanginess that can only be described as divine. It's the perfect complement to the sweet berries. So, before the summer gets away from you...make sure you try this Fresh Raspberry Buttermilk Sherbet! Oh, and I'll try not to keep such important things from you anymore. ;-)

Creative Ways Link Party # 66 and Double Features

Hi Y'all! So glad to see you here at the party this week! As you are linking up to this week's Creative Ways Link Party, I am kicking back at my parent's house. That's right! Dad got the okay from his knee surgeon to make the trek back to Lubbock. So, I went along with them to help out with the 5-6 hour drive (since he'll have to get out and stretch every hour or so). He has made great progress in the last couple of weeks and we are so grateful. Thanks a bunch to you all that left sweet notes of encouragement wishing him a speedy recovery.

So, last week I was a slacker and didn't get any features posted from the last party. I said I would try to make good on that by posting double features this week. To avoid a super-long photo heavy post, in the collage you'll find the features from the 64th party and the big pictures are from last week's party.

      Clockwise from top left
DIY Trumeau Style Mirror by Making It In The Mountains
Peach Blueberry Oatmeal Crisp by Three Kids and a Fish
Grain Sack Stripe Table Runner by Little Red Brick House for Domestically Speaking
Five Ingredient Key Lime Pie by From the Family with Love

Engineer Mommy brought this clever idea to the party last week. I absolutely love these simple DIY Washi Tape Magnets

Penny's Vintage Home posted her collection of Container Gardens around her house. Her pretty flowers make me swoon!

I could go for some of this Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast right now. Joy in Our Home showed some yummy ways to top this delicious dish!

I remember the first time I fell in love with Rafaello candies. I was staying with my extended family in Germany just after college. A sweet new friend gave me a little box of them for my birthday. They have held a special place in my heart ever since. Sweet and Savory by Shinee brought her homemade version of them... these Coconut Almond Balls... be still my heart!

The Honeycomb Home shared her beautiful Half Bathroom Makeover with us... love that planked wall!

Finally, The Reinvented Collection & Co. shared lots of great design information and ideas in her post about French Country Farmhouse Dining... stunning picture too!

Thanks so much to all who shared with us last week!

Food for the Soul ~ 2 Corinthians 8:7

Hi Friends! Hope you are doing well on this beautiful summer Sunday. We've been relishing the quality (and quantity) time we have been able to spend with my mom and dad as he recuperates from knee replacement surgery here at our house. The time is drawing to a close very soon, as he will most likely get the okay from his doctor to head back to Lubbock early this week.

Pink Hydrangea with 2 Corinthians 8:7

We will miss them deeply when they return home. It has truly been a joy and an honor to be the hands and feet of Jesus for them as they went through this trial in their lives. I know I will always treasure this time we had with them, in spite of the circumstances.

Today, I'm sharing this special verse from 2 Corinthians 8:7, "But just as you excel in everything-- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us -- see that you also excel in this grace of giving." Paul may have been referring to a financial type of giving in this verse, but I think it speaks to us giving of ourselves also. When we truly put knowledge and faith into action by pouring into others' lives, we begin living the life we were meant to live. Wishing you a beautiful week, my friends!

Creative Ways Link Party #65 and Features

Hi Friends! It's Wednesday again and you know what that means... It's time to Par-ty! I'm excited that you've decided to stop by the Creative Ways Link Party to share what you've been working on... or maybe you're here to be inspired. Either way, I'm happy to have you join us!

I've been a little busy this week helping my mom care for my dad while he has been in town having knee replacement surgery, and then recuperating here at our house a bit before they head back to Lubbock. My dad is a tough guy and he has been a real trooper, but I can tell that this has not been an easy surgery to bounce back from. I am so very proud of how he has stayed on top of his therapy and exercises. He is determined to get better range of motion and to get back to work soon. It has been a joy and blessing to have them around 24/7, and it will be bittersweet when they head back home next week.

All that to say, I have not been able to pull together any features for this week. I'm sorry... I'll try to do double next week, okay? So, let's just get to the party, shall we?!?
