    A Simple Fall Mantel

We are already to the end of October and I just realized that I never shared my Simple Fall Mantel with you. I'm sure you've been waiting on pins and needles for it, haven't you? I kid, I kid... Seriously though, have you see all the beautiful fall decorations out there? From blingy and bright to soft neutrals, the fall decor this year is simply gorgeous. I can only imagine what's in store for us this winter!
Old fall favorites set in front of some new textured background panels set the stage for this Simple Fall Mantel.

When my daughter asked me if we could pull out the Fall Box and start decorating in early August, I was a bit hesitant. After a couple of days of her asking, I finally gave in. If you don't know this already about my daughter, she loves to celebrate life. Every season, every holiday, almost every day is a reason to decorate. I do love that about her, even if it is somewhat overwhelming for me sometimes. This time, however, my mom was in town and willing to help out with the placing of fall decor. My only job was to do the mantel.

Old fall favorites set in front of some new textured background panels set the stage for this Simple Fall Mantel.

I took on this job because I had just recently refinished a couple of large wooden decorative pieces that I wanted to incorporate in the mantel decor. In fact, they would be the backdrop for the whole mantel setup.  I'll share about them in another post.

FALL block letters and wreath of wooden leaves are the stars of this Simple Fall Mantel.

I placed the turquoise FALL letters off center to the left of the wooden plaques, along with my flourishing Zig Zag plant in the copper pot.

On the right side, my sweet resin squirrel sits with gathered nuts along with a couple of simple dark bronze candlestick holders with turquoise candles. (I'm all about balancing the colors.) My swirly clock makes an appearance on the side also.

After placing all those items on the mantel, it still needed something in the middle. I love the interest and texture of the refinished pieces, but a little bit of color was in order. Digging a little deeper in the Fall Box, I found this beautiful wooden leaves wreath. I think it is my favorite fall decoration... such care went into making it. For just a little more color, the fall leaves swag was hung from the under side of the mantel. This is the same one I added book page leaves to for my Orange and Turquoise Fall Mantel.

Even though I was hesitant to get the ball rolling on fall decor way back in August, it has allowed me the joy of soaking in all the beauty of the season (indoors) until the trees begin making their change from the cool greens to warm and rich oranges and reds. It can't happen soon enough for me ;-)

Food for the Soul ~ Psalm 40:5

No matter how rough your week was, or how trying the next one might be, the Lord is working all things for our good and His glory!

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. ~ Psalm 40:5

Creative Ways Link Party #74 and Double Features

Hurray! It's Creative Ways Link Party Day! I'm so happy to see your smiling faces here this week! I hope your October is off to a great start. Ours was a little shaky at first with a sick kitty and computer issues. This week, however, Taz seems to be on the mend and well, the computer is limping along. I purchased another external hard drive to house my entire IPhoto Library on... now I just need to figure out how to do it without losing any precious photos. It's good to be a lifelong learner, right? If anyone has any advice for me, I'm all ears. ;-)

Since I didn't get any features done for last week's party, I went ahead and doubled up again this week... I just kind of mixed the last two parties' features together. Hope you like them!

         {Top to Bottom}
        Autumn Graces by Everyday Living
Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup by Crazy for Cookies and More

Impossibly Easy 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies ~ Cookie of the Month

Well, it's Fall... so that means my favorite season is here... Pumpkin Season! It's also the first Monday of the month, which means that it's Cookie of the Month time. I was thrilled when I found out that the theme would be pumpkin. I needed to bring a treat to our small group last week and I had the perfect recipe to try out... these Impossibly Easy 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. These cookies were every bit as tasty as my Great Pumpkin Cookies, but so much simpler to make. They were a big hit at our gathering, so I know you will love them too.

These 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies are such an easy way to kick off Fall! Bring them to your next gathering!

For some reason, I just don't feel right about busting out the cans of pumpkin until right around October. It's not that I don't love all things pumpkin, because I do. I think I associate pumpkin spice flavors with cooler weather (which I love), and I feel a bit let down when the pumpkin flavor isn't in conjunction with the fall leaves changing colors and the crispness in the air. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Fall flavored cookies couldn't be simpler than these Impossibly Easy 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Here's what you need for these simple cookies: yellow cake mix, pumpkin pie spice, canned pumpkin and mini chocolate chips.

Simply mix up the dry cake mix with the pumpkin pie spice and canned pumpkin.

           Fold in the chocolate chips.

All the Flavors of Fall wrapped up in these Impossibly Easy 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. I told you they were easy.

These 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies are such an easy way to kick off Fall! Bring them to your next gathering!

Impossibly Easy 4-Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
          (about 3 dozen cookies)

          1 yellow cake mix
          2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 (15oz.) can of solid packed pumpkin (not the one with spices mixed in)
          3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with cooking oil. In large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonful onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely on wire rack. Store in airtight container.

Have you started baking with pumpkin again, or do you use pumpkin year-round in your baked goods? Am I the only one who doesn't bake with pumpkin until Fall?

Be sure to visit some other Cookie of the Month members to see their yummy pumpkin cookies:

Pumpkin Snicker Doodles by Cookie Dough and Oven Mitt
Monster Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Cookies by Kelli's Kitchen

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for any recipe that pairs chocolate and pumpkin together. Check out some of my other favorite pumpkin recipes:
